Thanks Justin, thanks Ben for answering my question about genoatracks. I've put them on, and everything came out just great. One more question: I have what I believe is the original boom. Also its counterpart (a slider, about six inches long) with wich to attach it to the mast. Looking at some of the pictures on this site I estimate that the boom is attached about two feet above the foot of the mast. Who can supply me with the exact figures about where to put this slider? Thanks in advance.

boom height

wiebe, the height of the boom is pretty much determined by the length of the luff of the mainsail. If the main is all the way up, the boom will find it's own height, with a little extra for downhaul to help flatten the sail, etc. My boom floats freely up and down untill I tie it off where conditions determine it needs to be!

John got it about right on - the boom should float. Tension on the halyard and on the downhaul, stop, or cunningham - depending on your boat - will determine exact position. Justin - O'day Owners' Web
