Furlboom
I have chosen the furlboom system for my 450. I do not beleive that there is any lose of efficiency with this system since it uses the same size sail with full battens as in the manual system. The system is simple and open, so that jamming of it is very unlikely and it has a back up manual furling system. The sail can be reefed on any point of sail. I believe that this system is as safe or possibly safer that manual furling mains.I must admit that my boat is being commisioned in two weeks, so that while the system has already be installed, I have not used it yet. I studied the systems out there carefully and for me this seemed to be the best choice. My understanding is that Hunter is going to offering furlboom systems on some of their models.
