Boom Vang

I recently purchased a 1979 25'. I friend has a 22' which has a boom vang and it looks like the new 250 have them also. Can they be added or should they be added to a 25'?

Yes to both questions. A vang improves sail control, especially when sailing off the wind. Garhauer Marine is a good source for both rigid and "soft" vangs at very reasonable prices. If you're unsure of what size to buy, call them. They're an OEM for Catalina and will know exactly what to use. A rigid vang also eliminates the need for a topping lift. See link to Garhauer.

I sailed my c27 for a couple of seasons without a boom vang. Finally, i picked one up form Garhauer. Best prices, amazing quality (seriously), and i wouldn't sail without one again.
