Boom Vang

I'm looking for advice on replacing my rigid boom vang on an Oceanis 281. The one I now have isn't holding up my boom. It is about 18 years old. I'm thinking of buying a Harken vang. Any suggestions where to purchase one for a good price?

What brand is your current vang? In most the spring can be replaced to renew it.

Just curious, if you don't mind me asking, how much will that cost? I have a first 285 and with as many repairs and upgrades as I've done in a short amount of time, I'm sure that will come up one day.

I have prices from two companies for different vangs. One is about $350 and the other about $400. The latter is stainless, a Gerhauer, the former is from US Spar and is original equipment. They are both the mid-level, not the small, vang. Best of luck!
