Boom Vang

Does anyone know why Hunter did not include a boom vang
on there 27' model.

You didn't say which year 27 you are talking about. If it is an older one from the 80's (or even a newer one), it may have been removed by the previous owner. Sometimes these are options that people opt out on - no idea why because they are a valuable trim/control tool.

This past summer I bought a new Hunter27 (not the Edge) and it came with a boom vang. It was made by U.S.Spars. Although when we ordered there were some odd "packages" such as get shore power and you get a microwave....or order a marine head and you get a cooler in the galley. I haven't found the ginza knives yet. Maybe the boom vang came with roller furling.

A rigid vang would make sense with a boom roller furling main, since the boom often has to be at a specific angle for the furling to work properly.
