Boom Vang recomendation

I have a 30 footer and broke my vang last weekend while not de-powering it under a brisk broad reach. I need to replace it soon and was looking for a recommended brand and style. Like most skippers these days, the budget is very important right now.

I'd second Garhauer, especially since they give you the boom and mast mounting hardware.

Royal Flush: Garhauer is good choice. If you decide to purchase from them ask for Guido or Mark. Tell them Don Guillette told you to call. Make sure you get the spring upgrade. The standard springs are OK but the upgrades are better.

The only thing with Garhauer is sometimes the installation instruction are a little sparse. If you decide to make the purchase get back to me and I'll explain how I installed the Garhauer vang. One important point is that you want the boom to be about 10 degrees ABOVE horizontal when it is resting on the vang. One person could install the vang, which I did, but a extra person is very helpful.
