Boom Vang... Installed correctly?

Please forgive my ignorance, but I am still a newbie. I just rigged my Boom Vang and am not sure if I connected to the correct part of the mast. On the other end of this line, I have the opposing pulley attached to the largest d-ring on the boom.

Thanks for your help.

probably structurally OK but the tang is going to flex and bend.. That big loop just forward would be a better place. Looks like there is a shackle in the loop now to connect it with..

The "U" shackle attached to the mast base is the correct mounting point for your vang. Not only will that tang you are now using flex but it also locates the vang further from the aft end of the mast.

You got it, but I don't see the cleat cams on it. Are you running the line to the cockpit? The "U" bolt would indeed serve as a better anchor.

Here is a photo of how I have it run to the cockpit. Thank you for taking note and offering more advice.

I originally thought just what Benny said, but realized from the angle in the first picture that it would go to a deck organizer and then to cam cleat. Looks good.
