Boom Vang Attachment

I want to install a boom vang. I have the vang, now I have to figure out on to attach it to the boom and mast. Has any other 23 owners done this before? What hardware to you recommend to attach to the boom? The main sheet has kind of a beefy eye strap but not a boom bail. I need hardware attachments to the mast too. Is there a kit you could buy? Any help would be appreciated. Bob S/V Better Days

Mast bail works well

I installed a mast bail from west marine using a SS thru bolt from same. There should be an line/seam running down each side of the mast. Drill the thru hole at this vertical line from 3.5 to 5.0 inches from deck. Use a self locking nut and don't over tighten. The bail should be free to move up and down fairly freely when the nut is tight. Any more tight and you may damage the mast. Greg
