Boom Twist vs. Boomkicker

My 1983 Catalina 30 Mk 1 has a rotating boom at the gooseneck. I intend to install a Boomkicker but understand I will need to prevent this twist. Has anyone faced this as well? Where do I get a bracket to prevent the twist? Is eliminating the twist detrimental to the overall operation of the mainsail? I expect there was a reason Catalina put in the twist in the first place.
