Wondering what would be the ideal size for a boom tent awning on my Hunter 260.

I measured from the mast to the bimini for length, added 6" (be sure that the boom end is past the length measurement if you have a topping lift) and from lifeline to lifeline over the boom fore & aft. Mark forward end to facilitate installation. I hold in place with bungee cords on the side and line around mast on forward end. Works well.

Bob,

Also was investigating an awning to use on our boat and looked at Shadetree as well as this site for awnings they have listed.
Wondering if you still use an awning on your current boat, i.e. 356 and could offer any ideas.

Thanks,
Jeff

Since I am cheap, I went to a farm supply site and bought a plastic tarp that looks like mosquito netting. They use it to cover hay bales. Had grommets all around and was really cheap. Works great since it shades and lets a breeze pass through.

Jeff, we are just using the bimini and dodger on our 356. We find late in the day we get some sun under them, sometimes hang a beach towel up. I keep talking about making some mesh side curtains but it has never been enough of an issue to move up the to-do list. If we sailed the boat in Florida in the summer it would become a priority I think.
