Boom sag on aft end

I recently acquired a restored O'day 15. Having rigged the mast to be as upright as possible, the boom still barely clears the deck in the back of the boat. The sail appears to be an original and as just been reconditioned. Yet it appears to be too long on the side running from the top of the mast to the aft end of the boom. Has any one else expierenced this and what is the fix? thanks

Bill - First the obvious - the boom is straight right? Are you sure the sailing is hoisting to the top of the mast? Are you sure the sail is the right one for the boat? Are you sure you have the right boom? One of these must be off, or the sail is very badly out of shape. Check the height of the gooseneck, it may be too high. Justin - O'day Owners' Web
