Oday 28 Whiby
First year sailing. I have an 85 O'Day 28 and I was trying to take the boom off before I unstep the mast. However I am not sure how to get the boom off. It looks like a plastic C claw that attach the boom to the mast and I am not sure how to get if off. Any suggestions.

28 oday boom removel

HI, I have seen your posts in the past I have a 28 oday 85 for many years and in our boatyard up we remove the mast for our winter storage SO how to remove the boom first you take off the boom vang, then I disconnect the traveler clevis pin and loose it, then the boom free then take the topping lift line and pull it down which raises the boom up, the boom has to be VERY HIGH to unlock and I with one arm under the boom and try to pull off. then lower the boom with the easying the topping lift line to the deck. Its easy when you you know how , NOTE DO NOT LOOSE THE TWO SPRING CLIPS ON THE GOOSE NECK I asume you have a isomat mast I bieve all the 85 had it If you any more questions my email is frederickmain@yahoo.com I have a scetch of the operation from bay sailing equpment I can send you a copy of it. just let me know Fred Pierce
