I've been sailing a short time and looking at a 1985 34 Hunter. One of the prior owners was over 6.5 feet tall and changed the boom placement to be above the bimini while he sailed. Is the uncommon and what should I be careful of or watch out for? The sails were recut to accomodate the change. Any aditional info. re: purchasing the 34 is most appreciated. Thanks in advance, Chuck

Boom Location

The boom on my 1983 h34 stops right at the front of the bimini. It does not extend over it. Was your boom lengthened? It does extend to the back edge of the dodger. I'm 6'3", and the boom would just "brush my hair", if I were standing right under it. If you'd like specific measurements, I'm going to the boat tomorrow, or you're welcome to come and measure yourself. Photoron@earthlink.net Ron Dague S/V Finesse Ft. Lauderdale
