Reaching out to all Hunter 410 1998 boat owners. Our new to us 410 came with little to no extras and we are looking into what you owners have for the outhaul car system on your booms. Ours is the standard rig . After Mike at owners web had a conversation with a z spar, they say I need 6 meters of track system and large outhaul car in the range of $750 minus shipping from z spar. Does this sound like what you sailors have for your setup? To me sounds like all I need is a car that slides into the boom rail. Thank you for any help, Danny

When I replaced the mainsail on my 99 410 I went with loose footed. I just have a metal car that just slides in the factory boom slot, nothing else, no plactic lugs. It actually is the factory supplied car, pretty simple and couldn't be that expensive if you can find one.
What is the outhaul connected to now?
The 6m track and fancy car are absolutely not needed on our standard rigs. Spend that money better on a Tides marine or similar mast track instead. That will make a day and night practical difference in raising, lowering and reefing. Loose footed will allow better mainsail shaping, all the way down to the boom.
I can get you a photo toward the end of the week if you want, let me know.

Hey Greg, that is fantastic information, all i have right now was a piece of line holding the clew of the sail closer to the boom. We had a pretty big refit on her and had not gotten a chance to learn how to sail her properly when haulout came calling. Any info YOU may have like make, size, and pics would be very appreciated. Anything i can learn from you on this is awsome.

I'll go by the boat tomorow, hopefully remember to take photo for you. You say you have the standard rig right? Not the in mast furling because then the track and big car are used I believe, odd that they recommended it is all.
I incidently sailed my 410 from California to Hawaii and back singlehanded last year, 5100 NM. I have a few other friends here with 410's.
Join the Hunter owners Facebook page, if you post this there you'd have a dozen different guys answered already.
