Have evaluated this idea.
The in-boom furlers I have seen work very well. However, they are expensive and require a new main. The new main would be a bit flatter with parallel battens, and have less roach than the standard bain on our 460. Total cost to change is about $20K for our boat. Propbably a good thing to consider on a new boat as an option. I have installed a Tuff Luff to ease raising the sail and am adding a Stack Pack next year to ease stowing the sail.
