Dave...

Can anyone suggest any books that thoroughly cover the subjects of head and water system maintenance on boats? I just bought a Hunter 30 (1981) which has the whole enchilada (holding tank, hot and cold pressurized water, etc), and this is my first venture with a boat of this size and complexity. Thanks, Dave...

If I ever finish it...

there will finally be one. Meanwhile, there is nothing. However, a good portion of what will become the first one is in the Head Mistress forum reference library (go to the HM forum, then click on the link to the library), and at the link below. And I'm glad to answer any specific questions.

Who Needs a Book?

Everything you need to know is right here. Your computer's printer is a very source to capture what information you need from Peggie. That's, of corse, before the book comes out. Then, you HAVE to buy it!

Book store

Next time you're in a chain book store, check the sports section for manuals on sailboats. Some have sections on the water systems, but Peggy is right that nothing is out there (yet) on commode systems.

Nigel Calders Book has a small section

It sounds as if you are looking for a book on just marine plumbing, but Nigel Calders book (listed below) does have a chapter on "Plumbing, Tiolets & Thru hull fittings". Not exactly an all encompassing peice, but it does have diagrams and will get you started and on the basics. From there you can refer to "the Head Mistress's" section here for some more detail and suggestions, etc. The other good thing about this book is that is has practically ALL systems that you would encounter on a sailboat (mechanical, engines, rigging, etc). And is looked at as a "Bible" for Boat maintenance, etc. (Most online book store like Amazon or boat related sites have it) Its called...."Boatowner's Mechanical & Electrical Manual: How to Maintain, Repair, and Improve Your Boat's Essential Systems" by Nigel Calder
