Just curious if anyone knows of a "bone yard" for boats? In particular am looking for a shoal draught keel for my 40 O'day and some other specific parts. Must be a collection of wrecks somewhere one can go pick around in. Anyone?

Look in places that have had a recent hurricane.
The Gulf states often have hurricane damaged boats.

You may call around Marine Salvage Yards. Keels are hard to find as most salvaged keels are sold for refurbishing or as scrap.

There is one in Georgia. Can't think of the name right now. I lists a lot of salvage boats on ebay.... Hope this helps, Mark

Lot of marine wrecking yards don't have websites and are therefore hard to find. Did we not begin to use ourselves as a resource by compiling a list of the ones we know/use in our vicinities? If not, we should. Stuff like radar mounts that cost a fortune new or even used on ebay, should be had for a relative song [OK a small symphony] from the bone yard vendors.

Contact D & R Marine drmarine.com They are the 'residual' parts supplier for ODay and Pearson .... and may have specific info or a 'lead' as to where to find your keel from a destroyed, etc. OD40.

If you cant find a used keel, try Mars Metals - a "keel-builder". www.marskeel.com

Call the marinas and ask them where and who takes abandoned and junk boats. They know all or most of them on their bay or stretch of the river.
