I have a Catalina 22 I bought that was in a slip for at least 4 years. I trailered it and found some blisters. I also found a small hole in the hull that was not blistered but did leak "caramel candy". Yes, a stream of sticky brown ooze ran down the hull of my boat about 1 foot starboard of the keel. This solution smelled of butterscotch. When I started to grind it down, I found a grey substance - automotive bondo with no gelcoat over it, just paint. Chisiled out the bondo and found a 2 1/2 x 3 inch area that was roughly ground out with a dremel. forget the 1:12 fairing grind, it was almost straight up into the hull about 1/4 inch. After taking out most of the grey bondo, I found that water or some liquid was leaking out through the edges of the grind into the bondo that was left, turning that bondo brown and tacky and smelling like butterscotch. What can I do? couldn't post a picture.
