Bruce, What is the best way to ensure that epoxy bonds to the existing GRP when adding new structures/bulkheads on the inside of the hull? David

Secondary bonding

Basic surface prep is simply sanding the bonding surface to expose clean, fresh laminate. By that I don't mean you need to sand to the fiberglass necessarily, but the shiny cured surface should be abraded dull. The same goes for gelcoated surfaces. Norton makes a tool called a Rapid Strip brush that is a wheel that mounts in a drill motor which has 3 or 4 rows of stiff pultruded bristles which really abrade and clean the uneven surface often found on the inside hull surface without being too aggressive. You can find one at home improvement stores or hardwares.
