Bond deck to hull!

I am repairing my Catalina 27.
There was some bondo type of material where the deck meet the hull.
It was all cracked and chiped out in a storm damage, where another sail boat broke free drifted into our slip and keept pounding me into the dock.:cry:

All the same how do I fix this. What do I use.

Someone suggested using Evercoat Kitty Hair Long Strand Fiberglass Reinforced Body Filler - 869. I tried that, but on a test it seems that its viscosity was so fluid that gravity would just pull it out. I had hoped that it would have some form of higher viscosity where by allowing me to use a caulking gun to apply the product.

West Systems sells an epoxy which is very strong & durable that comes in a standard caulk gun tube, so application in a long thin line is easy. I have used it before with good results. It starts out as a gel, & will harden over a period of a couple of days to a rock hard surface when fully cured. You can buy it at West Marine. You will need to paint it with gel coat when it has cured to match you hull, as it does dry to a yellowish finish. Good luck. ps. Have you caontacted the stray boat's owner to hold him responsible for the damages to your boat? Any boat located in a marina is required to have insurance, for this very reason. Good luck.

Materials are just the start. Technique is just as important, and this book covers it. It's only a few bucks. In it I would hope you find the guidance you need to make your repair.
