Bombardier 4.8 rudder design, looking for other 4.8 owners

Hello everyone,

I have recently acquired a 1977 Bombardier sailboat. The only issue I am facing is I don not have the original rudder. I do have a rudder but I am positive it not the original, and I am wondering if there are any 4.8 owners that could supply me with the dimensions of the 4.8 rudder. I have looked every where online for the information but It's like finding a needle in a haystack, I have had no luck. I am planning on building the rudder myself

p.s. If there is an alternative rudder that would work could you please let me know. I would love to get on the water by July.

Attached are pics of my 3.8 & 4.8 rudder(s) & centerboard/dagger board.

The 3.8's metal work is identical to the 4.8 for the rudder.

I wouldn't worry about making an exact duplicate of the original rudder. I've replaced the rudders on my boats and gotten improved handling each time by changing the shape.

Took some quick measurements of my rudder:length, width, & profile.
Disclaimer:metal parts would need more accurate measurements , appprox only.

Hi There we just bought a 4.8 sail boat and need help getting it rigged , how long is the front cable on the mast also need instructions how to run all the ropes and pulleys can you guys help us out thanks Gerry
