Bomar Ports redone

I am going to rebed 2 old bomar ports on my Bristol. I gave Bomar a call, and they sell rolls of 1/2 inch wide adhesive/sealer tape that they recommend for the job. They said that is flows into the threads when pierced by the mounting screws. I asked about longevity and they said that Sea Ray has been using it for 20 yrs and another boat manufacturer uses it for the hull deck joint.

I have not seen this mentioned here before. Has anyone had good or bad experiences with their product?

It sounds a lot like butyl tape. :D

I used it several years ago when rebedding the hatches on Sea Dragon. It is easy to use. It does not make a mess. And it has held up well. Go to www.sailingseadragon.com then projects then rebedding hatches to get a better look at the material.

That stuff does look like butyl tape with a nylon mesh to prevent it from distorting or stretching too much. I'm willing to be that's it is this stuff
