Bomar Hatches-replacing original C100 series

The hinge on our cast aluminum hatch lid has broken and we are looking to see if anyone is getting rid of one, or has a suggestion on what to replace them with...that will fit the same opening. Our boat is an 1981 Islander Freeport 36B and the hatch is 22x22"....- and we believe it is the C139 model. Bomar/Pompanette no longer makes this size.

We had hoped to have it repaired, but the TIG weld did not work, so we are looking for a surpluses hatch lid cover.,.or will need to consider reworking the deck for a newer low profile model.

One thing to consider would be to shape another one out of a little chunk of aluminum then grind the old one one flat, just past the pin hole.. drill and tap the old part in two places on the thick side. Epoxy the new part with something like G/Flex and screw the new shape to the old part. If you have an eye for shaping and are pretty good with a Dremel type tool, that would not be a tough job.. The pin hole location has to be fairly precise. A shop would probably have to charge as much as a new hatch because of the labor involved but if you have some DIY skills it would not be an expensive project

Check with Don's Marine Salvage in St. Petersburg FL. Be prepared with very accurate dimensions.

If you end up replacing just the top, the new gasket material (basically O-ring cord with an adhesive strip already on it) is available here at the SBO store for less than you will find it anywhere else, especially from Bomar. Other folks have used substitute gasket material with some success, but I want the OEM part.
