Well Halleluia,

We finally got a coherent answer from our supposed Paint and Fiberglass "Professional". The names have been Xed out to protect the slothful.

" The hatch is re-cored, the deck is re-cored, Gina will varnish rail tomorrow. If weather holds
day after I can apply the hi-build epoxy. At this point, we need temperature for it to cure but
the few small parts removed can be put on and we can stop there till warm weather for the non-skid
coat. The hi-build coat will look sufficiently good for some time, it's off white. If the weather hadn't been so bad
the job would be finished, but that has always been outside my control as are my finances. I have a
job to get to on the 3rd that I can not lose. It's too critical. I've done the best I can, with poor
resources and bad weather. I can't speak for XXXXX's end on the bottom job. I assume that won't take
them very long. If you want, I'll submit an invoice as soon as the high build and all parts are on. The
epoxy is very temperature dependent for full cure and I think we might be fight a losing battle against
the weather. We have not been lucky in the past month !

I'm amazed to actually get some detail out of him. But now he wants let the weather AGAIN determine when he finishes. SIMPLY UNBELIEVEABLE

Tough call, but as one who has redone rush work done too wet, or too cold, your contractor might have a leg to stand on.

A few years back I got to reapply a bottom job when after application the temperature dove quickly to below freezing. Wanna guess how much fun it is to sand a hull bare twice?

I read part of your previous thread but not all, so I might have missed something late in the prior thread. That being said, if it's wet or cold or windy or too hot lots of maintenance materials just don't work.

And I agree with Phil. We are getting ready for a new windlass install that includes fiberglassing in a new bulkhead and turning half the locker door into a structural part of the deck. The first thing I told them was not to hurry or cut corners due to weather. I can wait. But I'm first on their list of boats to work. Chemical curing needs a defined environment.

Y'all are right. What I failed to mention is that this boat arrived at the boatyard on Aug 28th for its topside paint and bottom job. He has mismanaged soooo much time in the process of it all.

I want to sail her so badly

I can sympathize. My C27 has been on the hard for two years and some change due to weather. I need rain, to the tune of tens of billions of gallons.

Since he did half the job and you only paid him half anyway,why don't you take it to a yard with cover. We have one around here but expect to pay more. Much more.

Top quality job and no weather delays. That's why they called "Bristol". Amazing workmanship and top quality material.

Money can't buy everything but in this case you can buy quicker repairs.
