As we hoped, Serena appears to have escaped with minimal damage.
She is covered in soot both on deck and down below.
There may be some finish damage under the soot, but probably no structural damage.
There is ice up to two inches thick on deck.
Some obvious ice damage: the spreaders were ripped off the mainmast, damaging the spreader bases.
There may or may not be further ice damage in the scuppers/drains/bilge.
It will be some time before she can receive an initial washdown and be moved to another building for a full survey.
A side note for those who asked how Skipper Bud's is responding --
The staff has been very responsive. They are fortunate in being a large enough organization that they could pull together a small task force dedicated to this project, minimizing the effect on yard operations.
They are bringing in a "national fire restoration specialist company", which is fancy words for the local Paul Davis Restoration franchise, to do the cleanup work in a temporary building, and have expressed a commitment to expedite any repairs needed to get the boats cleaned and launched on schedule. One can only hope.
Unfortunately, but perhaps unsurprisingly, someone in their hierarchy is trying to play sneaky-lawyer and pulling some really dumb and offensive stunts (the latest one: ask for a signature on what is ostensibly a straightforward authorization to move the boat, but slip in a clause acknowledging that Skipper Bud's is not responsible for any freeze damage that might have occurred). Hopefully they'll get that under control and behave a little more responsibly. We'll see.
