An Investment with a good return

I loan my boat to many different groups working with youth in our community. The Kiwanis Club uses it for outings of their ACTION Club, mainly folks impaired by Downs Syndrome. The Masonic Lodge uses it for sail training with young people on probation from the Juvenile Court and their counselors. The local scout troop uses it for outings with their older members. All the skippers are seasoned sailors that I have taken for at least one check sail. My insurance covers the boat particularly when the person sailing it has my permission. My 32' Hunter Vision is a pussy-cat to operate. Resiliant and most foregiving. It would otherwise languish unused for long periods of time, as do most boats in our harbors. I'd like to believe that there are several investments at work in my boat and through it, in my community. The probate court folks tell me that they see encouraging positive change in the kids, especially as they bond with their conselors. Best part of the deal the kids are supposed to clean the boat as part of their salty experience. We are attempting to expand the concept. Please e-mail me at smithd@northlink.net if you'd like more details.

Heck No

They can take her without me when they pry my cold lifeless hand from her tiller. :) Seriously, besides the legal problems, I would worry about anyone that took her out of the slip without me. Not to mention worrying about damage getting her back in the slip, its a difficult maneuver.

Pass the Test

Although I am new to sailing (66yrs old) and am on my second sailboat, the first of which never had her sails hoisted, but 'driven' and cleaned up,and worked on a lot, I intend to sail this new '83, 21' Mac, with or without a crew. No one gets to 'play' w/my boat unless I am sure they are competent and gentle w/her and know the ropes(or, in this case, the lines). Preferably, NO.
