I just bought an older MacGregor 25. Is that anywhere in the Denver area that can lift the boat off the trailer so I can check the keel, make any repairs needed and paint the bottom. Want to do the work myself.

try the railroad or container yard

you should have eyes in the bottom of the boat for picking . anyone with a 8ooo# forklift should be able to do it

CO Boat Lifts

The Anchorage is a full service boat yard and dealership in Lyons, CO (they may have a Longmont address). Their web link: http://www.marina42.net/cgi-bin/p/m42p-home.cgi?d=the-anchorage Also, I believe that Cherry Creek Marina and Dillon Marina each have cranes that can lift a Mac 25. Cherry Creek Marina: http://www.cherrycreekmarina.com/index.php Dillon Marina: http://www.dillonmarina.com/ Whether any of these places will allow you do do work on the boat, I do not know. At least you should be able to get the inspection done. The Anchorage has a knowledgeable yard guy - so it might be worth it to do the inspection there and get the benefit of a consultation. Best o' Luck, OC

try trailer sailor forum with the same question

or just jack the trailer up(with the boat on) safely block the boat at its new height, then drop the trailer out from under it. you could also drop the swing keel from the boat after it's blocked so as to avoid lifting the boat full keel length above ground. partialy lowering the keel at the missing trailer height should give you about 60% keel inspection anyway.

Paint and Inspect hull

This is a common question and several people have come up with creative DIY solutions. Go to this link: http://kb.sailboatowners.com/brand?post=827 Salt water sailors have to do this but IMHO fresh water boats really don't need it unless they stay in the water all year. January sailing in Denver is probably pretty cool so my guess is you pull your boat in the winter.:)
