Boat with internal Spinnaker Pole

Anybody know the maker of the boats with the internal spinnaker pole? I saw a picture of one yesterday and I was going to post it here but I can't find the picture anymore. Just curious as to who makes them and how much they cost. I believe they may be a racing boat. Note: Internal...meaning it retracts into the hull at the bow. Looks very odd.

J-Boats?

I think that some of the J-Boats had that feature, but I could be mistaken.

Certinly J-105

had a telescoping pole for the asym, also some other J boats and maybe the Melges?

Not a Melges

It had more of a cruiser design...maybe it wasn't a racer.

A Buddy Meges designed CRUISER!!

I dont think so Franklin- take a look atthe Melges web site. Certainly the 24 and the 32 have telescoping poles- the 32 is described as having an "articulating pole" . Not sure what that is- too fancy for me.

Retractable Sprit Pole

They are not spinnaker poles they're sprit poles. They are used on many different models of sport boats as well as some racer/cruisers. J-Boats, Melges, Columbia, Ultimate, and many many others. Retractable poles are also something that you can add to your boat, I did exactly that. They are for use with asymetrical spinnakers.

Freedom too

Don't forget Freedom! The Freedom Gun Mount Spinaker Pole designed by Gary Hoyt was a swiveling pole attached to the bow pulpit. You can retract it back along side the life lines and it doesn;'t protrude. Unlike the J-boat bowsprit, you fly a symetrical spinaker. I had a Freedom 21 and it was fun to fly the spinaker singlehanded,

I didn't mean to poke at your spelling

Since I am not a racer, and all the posts before me were talking about racers or J-boats. I thought it was a real thing call a poll, and I just wanted to learn about it. Sorry, Hope no hard feelings.

I know I have to work on my spelling...it's a lot better then it used to be though.

Hunter has one.

Hunter built a racer based on their new 27' and they were showing it at the St. Petersburg boat show. A beautiful red machine.

Benny, where can we get to see one or the specs? ...there's nothing about it on Hunter's web site.
