The weather has been nice enough to sail around here. So I drove the 90 miles this morning to visit Ladylove. As you can see she won't be first in the water, squeezed by a new H33 on one side and a nice green ???. And no way to wash and wax come spring, an old Tartan 37 within a foot on port and an ODay 322 to starboard.

Kind of depressing to see the boat like that, all dirty inside and out. In complete disarray with all those new parts waiting for spring installation. Today I removed the last remnants of any #4 battery cable and even brought the battery switch home. Very concerned about getting three 1/0 cables onto the back of that switch.

Lots of boats still in the water as you can see. Unusual for Nov. 7.

Ed,
If your battery switch is the original Perko, then you can buy a spacer ring that goes under it to give more room behind. You may also need to enlarge the hole the cables feed through. I managed to get 3 x #2AWG (main cables), 1 x #6 AWG (windlass), 1 x #8 AWG (feed to DC Panel) and 2 x #14 AWG (from battery charger) all stuffed in there without a spacer.

Here's the link to the spacer:

Thanks for that link Jim. But I can't see how that thing works. The screw holes for the Perko are right on the edge of the hole. No way to enlarge the hole then. I think with right angle studs the wire will go on. But how do you insulate? Those little rubber covers probably won't work.

Ed, sorry they have you sandwiched in there...but I am sure once the weather breaks in late March or April, they could move a few around and get your boat out. Does seem like quite a few still in the water.

Or maybe just trade for that new H33. Coat of VC17 and good for years to come. No more work, just sailing. :)

But she just wouldn't sail or feel the same. You wouldn't be satisfied. I have experienced both. And if I were to find the bottom accidentally?... give me the 37C every time. I would rather sail than re-bond and re-glass the total interior structure as well as the holes punched through the hull at each end of the keel.
