I was looking about for trailers for a 28' boat. Mine weighs 6500# - and there do not seem to be many - if at all any - trailers being sold about.

Does anyone have experience renting trailers? I have a 1500 mile trip in mind.

How about building a cradle - and mounting it on a stock trailer?

Seems a common enough problem that people have - and I am reluctant to pay for a new custom built trailer...

You could probably rent a flat bed trailer used to carry construction equipment easier than you could find an adequate boat trailer.

that sure seems the case....

It looks like renting a dedicated sailboat trailer is one good solution.. I will ask around this spring in Dallas and Houston..

Another solution would be to fabricate a cradle and buy the "right' flat bed trailer you talk about.... Can keep the Cradle in the back yard when not using - and have a trailer for general use. Not the most optimum of solutions - but it would work... Suspect that I need a 10000# rated trailer to do it right - with some margin...
