Very few pots in the Basin proper but in the channel on the way in there are a lot - at high tide some buoys are dragged just under the surface by the current making them impossible to see. Put someone on the bow to look for them. Be really careful of the lone soldier rock shown on the chart under the "n" of "Basin"Hows the pot density in the Basin?
None,, Too shallow... Deep enough for the hook though..Hows the pot density in the Basin?
There are standards and mindsets... This site is studded with a plethora of different likes and dislikes and just as many commonalities ( sailing). For you lakers, don't take this wrong way.... But it is a tad different on the salt. The 2 greatest contrasts are tide and fishing gear. The the minor offsets, i.e. marine life that adheres to your hull, stray electric energy and..... sharks..;-)..so, some of us use totally different standards then others here. some love a crowd, i find crowds available all year round. some like harbors in towns , cities, hamlets, (they all offer the same stuff), if i can get there by car all year round, then not so special for me. some assume that if i say the big crowd spots are not what i'm looking for, that i am looking for serenity, (jviss). nope, nope nope! these are not the standards i prefer.
love the crowds at the chi-mac races, i've never lost the party
love the wild places where nature abounds
love people (i sail with big crews/not mom and pop)
see, i'm loud, i'm adventurous, i'm daring, i'm clean, i love pushing the limits.
so what am i looking for while playing with these wind toys?
places with "NO RULES"
no one telling me to quiet down. no one telling me "RULES" that they go by. no one saying slow down. no one telling me to keep moving.
no one telling me what to wear. no one telling me what i need to do.
with all my sea time i have seen many things, been there done that, got the Tshirt.
i love the "WILD" places and they abound where i sail.
no rules baby!
But John, that sheet is legal up here now. (and oddly enough, it doesn't appear to have been the disaster that the naysayers whined about). When I saw the subject I imagined I would see boats along the coast of maine....
I love dogs.........we have a golden male and a standard longhair dachsy...love to see them snoozing aboard..beautiful shot, beautiful harbor....envyAnchored deep inside Winter Harbor on Vinalhaven Island. Only boat. A bald eagle is casually flying from convenient tree top perches that surround the small basin we’ve claimed. He appears to be watching Mary Ann paint.
I am in harmony with that sentiment. Maybe it wouldnt be so bad if it didnt -stink- so much.I am to understand Meriachee.
The folks here in Washington and Oregon passed the same local laws following your lead. I hear it is a "Use in Place Only" thing. Try to carry it across the border or in some cases across our sate lines, there can be unintended consequences.
I'm happy with my Wine, Gin&Tonic (for medicinal needs), a wee bit of scotch or rum or bourbon, and beer - not all together.
To each their own.
