We are looking for someone familiar with our boat who can assess for damages. Our boat sank in freshwater.Anyone who has been through this and can give us tips on where to find a surveyor or specific areas of the boat that will be damaged would be so helpful.

How long was it under

How long was it under water? The longer it was under, the more potential problems. If it was just like a day or two, it should probably dry out ok. You could be looking at deck delam, problems with the swing keel mechanisms, obviously motor issues. How far under did it go? All the way or just a few feet? We bought one that had sunk on a lake in 3' of water. It was under for about a month but only the hull was under. The deck was fine and we didn't get around to the keel mechanisms before selling it. Luckily there's great support for the C22 cuz there's about a million of them out there. Parts are plentiful and the factory is very helpful. Good luck! LaDonna

How ours sunk

The previous owner had it on a freshwater lake on the Oregon coast. They used it to learn on and then naturally moved up to a 45' boat located in Mexico! :) They were down there for a month long vacation when a windstorm kicked up on the coast. The winds were hurricane strength but they don't call them hurricanes over here. Anyway, the boat was at a little floating dock, got knocked down by the wind, hatchboards fell out & floated away, boat filled with water & down she went. I didn't ask but assume that it hatch wasn't locked (very remote area). Sat there for the rest of the month before they came home. She has a happy new owner now! LaDonna
