Boat Speed under power

I have an oday 25 with the omc runs great seems to go faster in reverse than forward can only get about 5mph according to the gps out of the boat in forward and sounds like it has a miss in the motor the bottom has some slime just would like to know if the omc should push more than 5mph I will be changing the spark plugs this week end also the motor has not been run in about 3 weeks

Ron - the first question is: OMC of what power? 5 knots is probably a bit low. Check your fuel mixture, change the plug, and make sure air filter - if equipped - is clean. A clean bottom makes a big difference, though. Before you spend a lot of time with the engine I would get the gunk off your hull.Justin- O'day OWners' Web
