Lots of traffic...Liked the Outbound 46 very impressive!

The 315 is a much better than the 309 which I thought was not very well though out.
The mast is now spliced ~ 10' off the deck. I would need to know the details of this, the rivets are very close to the splice point indicating the internal splice connector is rather short.
No Windless.
Split anchor locker door.. nice idea.
The Gahauar hardware is smaller at most points.
The cockpit, although smaller has a much better locker arrangement.
The push pits vertical elements do not have feet on them, but rather the ends penetrate into the deck. On the surface this seems like a good idea, but what happens to the fiberglass if they get bent, how far do they really penetrate?
Nicely re-designed aft end with pull out swim ladder.
Real nav. station.

Bottom line, some nice design changes, but loss of a windless and island forward birth.

I was there Friday...very crowded.

I checked out the 315 as well. I did not like the new V berth layout, seemed very tight compared to the 310. The main salon area had a nice layout I thought.

I do want the pull out swim ladder though.

Witz, Was there Friday like iSailor. I suspect the splicing on the mast is not a big deal. I would assume the Selden thought that one out, although it would seem to me a single piece would be better. Not the first boat I have seen like that.

I may be having a senior moment, but what is the push pit?

Went Saturday and had a good look at the 315. I like the toe rail on all the 5 series and the $2400 optional cockpit flooring. Didn't care at all for either of the berths. Both are significantly smaller and more cramped than on the 310. Still using that stupid cam cleat on the main sheet. I really don't get the idea behind these things. That was the first thing I ditched on our 310, put on a really nice Harken cam cleat with a fairlead.

I can't believe it either. I use a sheetstopper, same concept to get a good fairlead to the winch, too.

Yea the splice can work, and is probably a result of trying to save on shipping costs. My point is that the appeared dimension of the rivets from the seam is not very re-assuring.

Push Pit... just another term for Stern Pulpit

The splice is on the C309's also and should not be a problem since the mast is in compression. As for the interior it is almost the same as the 309 except they cut down the forward hanging locker and added 2 small drawers. I like the 309 locker better since it is larger and gives a bigger counter on top. The one one change I like is to the dinette with the return cushion on the forward end and a smaller table. I agree the size of the v-berth on the 309/315 is small and they did upgrade to better cushions. I haven't been able to see the deck changes since we do not have a 315 in Seattle yet.

Yeah, I agree a pix is worth a thousand words. Not like I could afford any of those overpriced boats anyway. But I guess somebody's gotta buy 'em so I can pick it up 20+ years from now.

From the chat above Catalina should offer the 310 again. After 12 years I have yet to see a "30 footer" that holds a candle to the 310.
