I've been sailing inland lakes in Northern ID for 15 years... it's pretty cool when you're out on a clear as glass lake, on a sunny day, shore is a no less than mile and a half in any direction. Just enough breeze to keep the sails full. It's a weekday my wife has to work, flying for ID Fish and Game doing telemetry location on Elk. She buzzes us about noon time. Around 1p a bear swims by. To top off the day we go look at the goats on the rocks, on the south shore. The only thing uncommon about this day is my wife buzzing overhead in an airplane. Lake Pend Orielle is a beautiful place to sail. The lake is 25 plus miles long and upwards of 8 miles (I think at the northern end) across. It is much like a large fjiord. Never seen a water skiier, most of the motor boats are fishing or cruising at siteseer speeds. But as usual you have to make it to the mooring bouys early if you want to tie on your bow line. But if you want to make new friends, just ask and someone, they will let you raft up. Does this sound like somewhere you might like to be? Well lets talk sharing, I would love to let you sail my boat if I can sail yours. Where are you at?
