I have an ODay 25 and want to put a name on the transom. Does anyone have any experience with the internet companies that make the vinyl names (i.e. BoatUS)? How much room is there on one side of the rudder. Thanks
We have an ODay 19...and put a name, and port, on the transom two years ago. The name we placed high on the port side of the transom, so it is totally visible to the left of the transom when viewed from astern. The town name, with state abbreviation, fit nicely, centered on the transom and below the tiller, split by the rudder...so totally visible also from astern. And BoatUS did our names, and had them to us in less than five days...ready to go.
Chris, check around your area with the sign companies. A great deal of them these days have vinyl lettering capabilitles and can fix you up while you wait. It's all computerized now and they also usually have various colors with UV resistance, and styles of lettering, the very same thing that the internet and marine suppliers have. If you don't know how, they will also show you how to install it. You will probably get it cheaper and also save the shipping and the wait.
