Boat Name Etiquettte

While we are on the boat naming kick. I have recently purchased a "no name" boat. I would like to name it after a similar boat a favorite uncle once owned. The question: Is it proper to name a boat after another? And should I ask my uncle for permission to use the name? Thanks!

If there is a boat already with the name you want you should name it as a II or 2 just to show that it isn't the original, other wise the sae gods will get pissed at you. Happy sailing
