So I got 2 of the 4 screws to release on my Raw Water Pump. YEAH! Two more to go for PB Blaster and tapping... So while waiting I took a look at my Coastal Explorer charting. No connection to my Vesper AIS Gateway. What happened?
No WiFi connection. It is just gone. Ok Break out the backup USB connection. It is a hard wire safety net to the Vesper.... Gone... No connection. WHAT?

Reach out to NZ Support... Yes I know they are hours different and a whole different days away...
Tom calls... Hey isn’t dark there? Yes. But I’m up anyway. We have a new baby boy and my wife needs the sleep.. What’s the problem... Ok... The wifi connection is not there. And the USB connection is not there. The AIS is still working fine.
We have seen this a few times. We are working on a solution. There is a field work around if your willing. Well sure we can try anything once...
Tom emailed me the needed files and procedure.
First try... no luck... Second try.. Maybe. No.. Third try... Yes yes yes. The system rebooted and Voila the Wifi link reappeared.

Ok so maybe it is a step and a half forward today... The SAGA continues... I need to go find replacement screws for the straight slot screw on the water pump. Sad that SpeedSeal is no longer in business. http://www.speedseal.com/SpeedsealLife/SpeedsealLife.html

Truer words have never been spoken!
That's a shame Speedseal is closed. And for health reasons no less. I have their LifeSeal on my Yanmar.

I recently learned about the speed seal product when I started this pump maintenance. I went on line to buy one and GONE... Sorry to hear he was in bad health. Bummer that his idea is shelved. Looked like a good product.

I got mine here ....

https://www.albanycountyfasteners.com/All-Products-Silicon-Bronze-Fasteners-s/1233.htm

Also the ones for the thru-hulls and I get all my stainless fasteners from them also. Great prices and service and can't beat the shipping charges and they are fast,

What a shame about SpeedSeal, that was truly an outstanding product that solves two problems 1) hard to access raw water pumps, and 2) the SpeedSeal Life radically increases the life of an impeller.

Great opportunity for some entrepreneurial machinist/businessman to bring it to the US and expand the number of engines it fits up to.

Life is so simple yet so complicated. It sometimes seems like maintenance is all it is.
I spend a large part of my life searching for things that are maintenance free and the rest of the time just searching for things.

Maybe maintenance just spares us from a life of just searching for things. We're waxing philosophical now.

Agree. I have one and have some spares of the expendable parts but when that runs out, then what.

My mom use to wash my mouth out with soap if I waxed philosophical... It is for your own good. You are probably thinking dirty thoughts. This is a preventative remedy...

Fortunately we don't run our engines much. I'm expecting the supply I have to last my lifetime.

alas and farewell to speed seal ! we had one on our yan 2GM20 F hp..... then we put one on our yan 3JH4E after it took me THREE HOURS trying to reassemble the water pump cover due to the stupid microscopic screws yanmar provided. which fell into the bilge of course. and needed a magnetic retreiver to get....
