Boat made it fine in slip with no damage just north of Annapolis. Pictures are of Chesapeake early on with winds of 30-35 knots and some kids boogie boarding. Pictures of boat are directly on the other side of the breakwater - parking lot.

My boat, 20 miles south at Herrington Harbour, Deale, did well, too. I had given the marina authorization to haul her on Thursday, but there were about 100 boats ahead of me in the queue. They called Sat AM to say the boat could not be hauled before the worst of the storm. I think they hauled about 85 boats in less than 48 hrs, which is pretty good. I had doubled up lines and put out fenders and had no damage.

Glad to hear you're OK.
Don't know exactly how I faired, but during the height of the storm most of our boats were sitting on the bottom. A dockmate sent out a pic of the J-boat across the dock from me heeled over in the middle of the night, and I can barely see mine riding upright in the mist behind it.
Report was none sunk, none badly damaged.

Marina did a great job of keeping us informed but the boat did great. Wind today was higher than at some points in the storm.
Boats at Hampton Yacht Club weathered the storm with no apparent problems. The club emailed instructions on preparing your boat to remain in its slip, and everyone complied. Our new Catalina 375 made it through without a scratch. The floating concrete docks and extra high concrete pilings gave us piece of mind, even though we could not transit the Hampton Roads bridge tunnel during the storm to check on it. The yacht club had electricity back before our house did.
Ditto that - I'm in Deale as well at Rockhold Creek. I had arranged to have my boat hauled Friday, but the storm surge south of the Va Capes apparently pulled a lot of water out of the Chesapeake and the afternoon high tide never occurred. As a result, there wasn't enough water to get my boat over to the TravelLift. Took down all canvas and reduced windage as much as possible, doubled up the lines and checked the cockpit drains. Perversely, I kept my Oliver Hazard Perry flag ("Don't Give Up The Ship") flying from the spreader - just my pathetic act of defiance (the liveaboards in the marina liked it). Then went home and bit my nails until Sunday morning.
She came through fine, as did my neighbors, and I enve saved the (fairly shredded) flag.
Meanwhile, seventy three others and I hauled out at our marina.
Went down to check on things Sunday afternoon and found a long scrape mark on the port topsides that wasn't there when I left Friday afternoon. Just happened to have some Dupont #7 and rags in the truck and it rubbed right out.
I've been trying to figure out how it got hit. Something flying in the wind? Someone carrying a ladder? Heavily armored flying fish trying to head North?
Then the harbormaster called this morning with the answer. He knew there had been minor damage. But it micraculously had been fixed. But he hadn't figured out who fixed it.
Seems they were moving a small sailboat that wasn't secured well to the trailer by the owner. It fell over and the top of the mast hit my boat.
"What kind of boat?", you ask. A Lightning.
So I can now say that my boat was hit by (a) lightning during a hurricane.

None of the boats in our marina on the North East River elected to be hauled for Irene and all survived just fine. I've got a couple of new scrape marks on my starboard side apparently from my finger pier, despite having four fenders positioned there and the lines snugged so the boat would barely touch them to the dock.
Found a full grown railroad tie on the floating dock at my stern--must have been a bugger to get out of the water. It's headed for our parking lot as a divider. Lots of debris pulled out onto our docks--we're going to have firewood all winter for our picnic ground's fire pit, with some left over for spring sock burnings!

Finally returned from vacation and thought it appropriate to publicly THANK the folks at Boat Shine, LLP in Annapolis for prepping Harmony for Irene's arrival, and adjusting lines as necessary throughout the storm. I found myself as far away as possible and still be in the US when Irene started to make her way North. Calls to my Marina (unnamed on purpose) left me frustrated by their lack of response and lack of ability to pull the boat as requested on Wed. They did provide the number for Jill @ Boat Shine who took on the task and did a fantastic job of removing all canvas, sails, adding lines (available on board) and adjusting as necessary. Not a scratch! Great Service!
I had just purchased a Hunter 30 the Monday before Irene. I had planned on sailing it to Solomons from Galesville that Saturday. Instead I was running double lines and sweating bullets. Saturday afternoon was 30 knts and better down the creek right into my slip, which had a piling setup that was meant for a smaller boat, forcing all of the weight onto the aft port pile. Didn't sleep much the night. In the morning, after cutting several trees that blocked routes to the highway, we got to the marina... Not even a scratch on the boat.
Had prepared for storm surge, but water never even got to bottom of finger piers in Jones Creek. No one hauled out at my marina, and only half hanked the laundry off.
