Boat lettering removal

Anyone have a clever way to easily remove old boat lettering without harming my gelcoat?

Are those like the plastic scrapers? My auto part store doesn't have the eraser that people recommended

Did you find the method using Easy Off oven cleaner (paint)? Works fast and no scraping.

When you remove the paint (assuming paint) you may see a shadow of the old lettering. You can either leave it or use buffing compound or other method.

I used a hair dryer to warm up the letters and used a putty knife to peel them off. No chemicals

I think you can find these at the automotive paint stores or on-line.

Astro Smart Eraser, 3M also makes them too.

Never mind just answered it by searching the forum!

I use my wife's hair drier with a plastic putty knife. Goo Gone works great for removing the glue residue.

This method worked for me, too...some times it took a straight edged razor.
