Will the insurance company cut you a check and let you make your own repairs? Looks like there is less damage than the value of the boat.

I would ask about removing some of the valuable items from the boat if the insurance company would allow it. The winches, toe rail, stanchions mounts, bow/stern pulpits etc. are hard to find items that you could resell.

I would not even think about trying to repair the boat considering the damage to the liner. You are better off taking your money and running.

Can I ask who you were insured with and how much they valued the boat for?

I'm not sure. They have paid me out in full.

They have put the boat up for salvage. I really don't have the place to work on it.
If I had a shop that was heated during the winter I guess I could gut it and make the repairs. I've never tackled a job like that. The inner pan looks difficult to remove.

Are you satisfied with the way you were compensated and served by the insurer / yard /surveyor?

Yes I believe I was treated fairly by the insurance company. I didn't have replacement value on the boat. They paid me out for the boat and said that they would compensate me for trucking costs on my next boat up to the value of the policy. So that sounds fair to me.
