I'm in the insurance business. Check with your home/car provider and make sure your personal liability umbrella extends (assuming you have one/if not you should). Also check with a local MARINE INSURANCE BROKER. If you are sailing in open water it might be worth a look. There are definite differences between a State Farm/Allstate boat policy and a true Marine policy. Things like extensions of coverage to your tender (dinghy) usually are covered under most Marine policies, not SF/Alstate. Also, check liability for oil/fuel spill hazard clean up (fuel line breaks into bilge, bilge pump pumps it out into marina. Big costly problem)
