All:
Has anyone here had experience with an outfit called "New Hampshire Insurance Co" ? It seems as though my carrier (Vigilant) is getting out of the boat insurance business and my broker has recommended New Hampshire. Any input would be appreciated.

I have no experience with the company you refer to,but I have had boat us insurance for many years now. I have never had a claim , but they seem to be a good company with good coverage and my yearly fees have decreased with no claims.

My broker just moved us to ACE after Zurich pulled out of the San Diego market. I've been an agent with the Good Neighbor folks for 30 yrs and the ACE policy was very competitive and the policy coverages are excellent.

I had ACE and liked them but had to switch when I bought the newer boat since they would not meet the minimum deductible that the credit union required. I am with Foremost Insurance now and they are pretty good too. The quote ended up a little bit cheaper too.

normally a broker will sell whatever company's policy will pay him the most, thats how he makes his money,he's not really interested in the quality of the policy.it's safer to go with one of the top ten policy writers who have a reputation to uphold.

Back in around 07 not many insuraance co would insure my 2007 Hunter 36 in Florida because of the size and cost of the boat, anyone willing to insure me wanted double what I was paying in NY to insure in Florida.
It was a big problem insuring a new costly boat in Florida and Progressive did it for the full replacement price at a price better than most, every year Progressive gives me discount off the cost since I have not had any claims here in Florida.

I have Progressive and am cancelling the policy when it expires. Google or Bing their chairman, Peter Lewis, for my reasons.

I guess I'll be changing our car and house insurance. According to Snopes.com, the rumors are true, so when the boat's ready I'll put it on Progressive as well.

Apparently this thread has moved into war room territory.

I'm also insured with the Good Neighbor folks 42 years. Have all covered under my policy including 1M umbrella. Any reason, as an agent, you don't insure your boat with State Farm? Fair Winds and full sails...

Boat insurance is only as good as its claims service. When thinking about this, think worst case, not a guy who nicked your gel coat when docking. Think about a major catastophe hitting your boat or boatyard. How would your potential insurance company deal with it? What help would they give you or would you be on your own having to seek required services while competing with lots of others also seeking similar services at the same time? I'm not a flack for Boat US but I had only one claim in over 30 yrs of boat ownership and it was from a hurricane hitting my marina and damaging my boat. Boat US did an excellent job, having professional surveys on site within days who acted as ajusters who worked with multiple service providers on my behalf. It's hard for me to imagine getting better service at such a time.

I've shopped around and never found anyone in the same ballpark as BOAT/US.

I have used both Progressive and Boat US. Boat US is about half of what I paid Progressive with much better coverage. I have had a claim with the trailer rider and they walked me through exactly what to do to get my boat and trailer home with no expense. I also like the fact that they are a voice for recreational boaters to policy makers.
