Not a scam, but the information available on small pleasure boats is not very comprehensive to substantiate some of the advertising benefit claims for the service.
Several organizations have tested Boathistoryreport.com and found the information fairly inaccurate, with serious repairs missing and such....so I would not bother getting one from them. It isn't worth the money you're paying for it.
Didn't even go to the site but seems to me it would work like autos. Anything that they report would have to have been reported through an insurance Co. or from a dealer.
I ordered the "single report option" and got charged for unlimited reports. Also, the report itself is very uninformative. I've contacted customer service and no reply. I'm going to dispute the charge with my credit card company.
I would not recommend this service. It is overhyped and dishonest IMHO.
That site is playing of people's fears of buying a Katrina victim that's been polished up and dabbed with a little paint, but the wiring and engine are pretty much shot.
