Boat Haul - NY City Island Area

Hello All:

I recd a message from colleague asking if I know of a place that can haul a boat which is in disrepair. IRC; based on previous conversations, she purchased the project boat a few years ago for $1. I believe that she told me that it was once owned by Walter Cronkite. Maybe some of you may know of the vessel. Anyway, if you have suggestions that I can pass on to her, I would appreciate it.

I went to brewers in Glen Cove as none of the yards near the whitestone area wanted to deal with steping the mast and loading it on a truck

I am fairly sure any yard in this neck of the woods is not going to want yet another boat about to fall apart ?

Suggest to her that she get some good pumps and check over in Connecticut where the land is not so valuable.

My co-worker was on his honeymoon and took some sailing lessons with his bride and an instructor who was flirting outrageously with his Wife. Long story short the instructor said that he would inform him when to tack and ignored my friends efforts to get his attention. They sailed right into the side of Walter Cronkite's boat. This happened in Martha's Vineyard about 30 years ago. I wonder if it is the same boat? Good luck saving it.

Maybe these guys, who specialize in wooden boats in Stonington, can help her out.

If she needs a "no questions asked" low budget marina near by I had my boat at Spencer's and that may fit the bill. They are not really a full service sailboat facility by any means. They are worth a shot though, as they are sketchy enough that they may pull her boat, as long as she understands the risk is on her.

Thanks for the feedback. Colleague just let me know that the leak was from a bilge hose. Imminent danger is gone. She said boat still needs to be hauled, so I have forwarded your suggestions.
