numbers only

I ordered numbers only - no graphics. They did a great job. Very fast.

Not such a good thing

Hey there... I used Boat U.S. graphics for the name of my boat "Alexa" and I found there product to be a bit wanting. After only a year in the San Diego sun there had been considerable fading of the lettering. The dark blue that makes up most of the lettering survived the sun but the shadow effect and the silver outlining all faded in the sun to white within a year. I would consider going with someone else if you don't want to have to replace your lettering every one to two years. Hope this helps. -Scott

I had the same problem that Levin explained. The outer dark blue held up fine, but the silver inner color faded within a year. I think this time I would do what Jeff (Gale Force) suggests, and try a local graphics shop. When is splashdown? Best of luck with your new boat. John S/V Sanctuary II

Go to your local sign shop and save $

I have been very happy on several occasions going the local route. I have also used Boat US. I do not see a difference except price - even over time. The local guy sat down on his computer and went through a few designs with me and when, I decided I had ordered the graphic too small, he made me a new one at a reduced cost the same day. You won't get that from Boat US.

Seadaddler?

There was a post on here a couple of weeks ago from a guy that got his two-tone vinyl letters from BoatUS and found that they faded within a year. I suggested that he go to a local shop (Fast Signs) and order some (but take measurements, first). They will retain the file and give you a good choice of fonts/styles. I am on my second set and the first lasted more than 5 years! And the stern faces the sun (South) all summer long.

Inflatable lettering

maybe a little off topic but close...I purchased a new inflatable over the winter and needed to do something to mount the Reg numbers and decal. I did a little looking and came across a plass on the line called Boat number plate. I have to say I am very impressed with thier product. They ran me $40.00 and shipping was included. That works out to about the same price as buying the individual letters. I got them in about 4 days. They were very easy to apply to the dinghy and look very good. There is no problem with inflating and deflating the boat. If you need something like this here is the link. http://www.boatnumberplate.com/
