Essex

We just used Essex ourselves and they we're excellent and fast. They require documentation if the yacht meets the standards of doing so. Good Luck, Chris

Make that a third for Essex. Good rates, they know boats and were a pleasure to deal with.

Used FC many years ago and was pleased.

Rates

Hi Ken: I just purchased a boat last spring, and after getting several quotes from BoatUS, West Marine, and some other nautical type folks, I took the info to my local banker, and they wrote the loan at a 1/4 point lower then the best deal, and I did not have to go through the documentation process and expense. Good Luck, Dave S/V Westwind

8% more or less

You might be able to get a little better rate but it seems that mortage and consumer loan rates really haven't dropped all that much. With all of the Fed rate cuts it would be nice to lock in a nice low rate but it might take a while... A variable rate Home Equity line might do better if it's tied to the prime rate...

Just Financed

I just closed on a new boat and my rate was 8.25%. Someone else mentioned they refinance at 7.99% so it looks like it is arount 8. Also the Rates have been comming down. When I got a quote in October 2000 the going rate was 8.99% so if you can wait for the next meeting of the Federal Reserve, they may drop the rates even further. Depends on how the economy is doing.

Essex 7.75%

Just closed on a loan for a new (used) boat with Essex last week. 7.75% and the easiest, no fees, no hassles lender I found, both locally and via internet. Bill Saint Satisfaction II H310

Essex

I also just bought and used Essex. They were very helpful and had my loan ready in no time. The longest wait was for the USCG documentation search because the vessel had been documented by a previous owner and expired. Charlie S/V Destiny

Colonel John W. "D-Day" Day

Scott Financial

I just closed a note with Scott financial. As the year moved on and the rates kept dropping, they kept moving with me until the week before closing where I secured a note at 7.5%. The original quote in December was 8.25% so they came down a lot. Best I could find and great service.

About Scott Financial?

I am told that there are different rates for financing over and under $100,000? I'm curious, would it be possible to get more information on Scott Financial? Could someone provide a contact person and phone number or email for them? Thanks for your help!
