Boat Cushion Size?

Hi all,

I'm about to order new cushions (fabric and foam) and I was curious if
anyone had already measured the exact dimensions since mine were
completely ruined and I'm wary of my ability to do this correctly. If
anyone with advice, warnings, or experience could help out I'd greatly
appreciate it.

Thanks,
Scott

There are various sizes for Vega cushions. Series I and Series II are
the same. Late Series II and Series III are different. What is your Vega
number and engine type?

Scott, it makes no sense to use measures from another Vega as the interior sizes of different Vegas differ substantial. I once put cushions from a Vega one year older than mine in my boat and they really did't fit well. I used newspapers to make a real-size layout-model of all the cushions I needed and ordered new ones based upon these 'models'. This worked out reasonably well. I didn't make them myselves so can't share experience on that. Good luck with it.

Or use a local company and have them make the measurements on board.Nicholas Walsh

Hi Scott,

Laura just embarked on that very same project; to replace all the cushions on Lealea. Rather than copy the originals, our local live-aboard canvas and cushion specialist insisted on making new patterns from scratch using kraft paper. Janice, who has made two sets of awnings and one complete set of cushion covers for me previously and who had just completed re-upholstering her own boat, promised superior results if she made her own patterns. We've been sleeping on the new V-berth cushions now for two weeks and are anxiously awaiting the new cushions for the main cabin. The results are striking and a vast improvement in comfort and appearance.

Aloha,
