I have come to understand that my old C27 hull #974 needs a boat capacity placard. This placard would state the weight (in people and gear) that the hull can safely carry and must be mounted to the boat. Does anyone know where I might get such a placard?

Placard . . .

You may know this already, but that law didn't take effect until 1973, I don't know what year your hull #974 is, but my 1971 Catalina does not have the placard, nor does it need one. Nick "Julia Bell" C-27, #86

MAX CAP LABEL

tHE MAXIMUM CAPACITY LABEL IS REQUIRED BY THE COAST GUARD ON SINGLE HULLED BOATS 20 FEET OR LESS, MANUFACTURED FROM 1972. IT DOES NOT APPLY TO SAILBOATS OR MANUALLY PROPELLED BOATS (CANOES, KAYAKS) STATE LAW MAY REQUIREA LABEL, BUT NOT LIKELY.

My new 270 does not have one, either. I think this rule only applies to stink boats who's owners are not too bright on loading boats.
