I have had my 33.5 stands for the last three months. It is sitting on 6 stands with the keel blocked. I observed the bottom the week after she was pulled. I saw her yesterday and now there is an indention in the bottom about two foot square at about midships. The boatyard owner said that the liners some time pull away in places and that once she is back in the water, the liner will settle and this indention will no longer be there. If you knock on the indention, it feel really thin. It is located right under the icebox.

Any thoughts or has anyone had any experience like this.

Thanks.

pressure

im assuming this indentation is caused by a pad on a jackstand I would say there has been some settling of the ground maybe under the keel and if it were me I would immediately adjust the pad causing the problem down and releive some of the pressure doing it slowly and watching what takes place in regard to the the other stands releive pressure in one spot may increase it in another hopefully the keel.basically the job of the stands is to keep the boat from falling over the majority of weight should be taken by the keel.I would releive some pressure if it was my boat.

Agree with digby. If you know your boat well you can place the poppits where there are bulkheads or stringers, something solid. Because the hulls really are thin.

I wonder what type of stands you are using. I once had a pad on my cradle actually lift the boat. The adjuster sat in a hollow tube. That had filled with water and with freezing the ice actually pushed that one inch screw up and lifted the boat. Right after that I drilled drain holes in the bottom of those tubes.

are spot on! Have the yard move the stands to points under bulkheads to minimize the hull deformation. They will settle back out once in the water, but too much pressure may cause delamination and more serious future problems given the thinness of the hull where you've noted the indents.
